Wolverton Works Open Weekend

Was to have been Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th August 2010

RailCare Ltd in association with The Railway Magazine is delighted to announce that it is to stage an open weekend at Wolverton Works, the first for 17 years.

Wolverton is one of the oldest railway works still operating. It was built in 1838 at the mid point of the London - Birmingham Railway. Wolverton was initially used for the maintenance of locomotives built by outside companies, before starting to construct its own, including the famous LNWR 2-2-2 "Bloomers" and "Wolverton Express Goods" 0-6-0's.

RailCare and The Railway Magazine team have been secretly working on plans for the event for more than five months. Together they hope to raise a significant sum of money for a number of charities, including Willen Hospice, The Living Archive, Milton Keynes Museum and The Mental Health Foundation.

Pete Waterman will open the event and be around on the Saturday to chat to fans.

"For the third successive year, The Railway Magazine has been asked to partner the major rail industry event of the year. We are delighted and exited to be involved in Wolverton Works Weekend and hope that you will support the site's first event for 17 years."
Nick Pigott, Editor, The Railway Magazine

"RailCare is delighted to welcome you to Wolverton, where we have a full order book, so there's lots to see. Our aim is that a number of local charities will benefit from your support and may I thank you in advance for helping to raise these vital funds."
David Hilliard, RailCare Training and Development Manager.
