Olney Station - Its History And Our Model
Olney's Midland Railway Station
Olney Station opened for service on the 10th June 1872. The last regular passenger service serving the town ran in March 1962, and freight traffic to and through the town ceased in January 1964.

The station was on the Northampton to Bedford line which fell victim to Br. Beeching's infamous 'rationalisation' of the railways, the line's track being removed during 1967. The site of what was Olney station is now barely discernible within the new houses constructed in Midland Road.

Barrie Trinder has researched and compiled a history of the station for us: you can read it HERE. Also on these pages are links to other records and photographs of the station and its surrounds.

OMRC Model of Olney Railway Station
Members had talked about the possibility of modelling Olney railway station and its yard for some years, and the subject was raised again at the club AGM in January 2011.

In consequence, a special general meeting of the club to discuss the possibility of such a project was convened in March 2011, and the outcome of the meeting was a decision to proceed with this.
The story of the model's construction, and a photographic record of the layout can be found HERE.
