The club was formed in 1993, as Olney Model Railway Club. The club continued with this identity until 2026, when the club was offered an opportunity to occupy premises in Newport Pagnell in addition to its activities in Olney. To reflect this new presence in Newport Pagnell the club members decided to change the club name to the Newport Pagnell and Olney Model Railway Club.
